Welcome or welcome back to our weekly AEW Dynamite hits and misses series where we recap all the good and bad from the show.

Hit – Opening segment on AEW Dynamite
The opening match served as a warm-up for Kenny Omega ahead of his title defense at AEW Dynasty. Blake Christian got a little bit of offense but that was all he could deliver against The Best Bout Machine. Bailey showed respect to Omega before Ricochet hijacked their interaction with an announcement of his own.
Miss – Dissension in The Hurt Syndicate?
It’s still too early to book a Hurt Syndicate implosion angle if that’s what AEW teased with the MJF-Bobby Lashley interaction. The Syndicate doesn’t need a new member at this point. They need to run through the entire AEW tag team division instead of MVP handing over his business card. Also, it appears AEW has dumped the MJF and Adam Cole rivalry at this point.
Hit – Kyle Fletcher vs. Brody King on AEW Dynamite
This was arguably the match of the night. Brody is built like a tank. This writer never gets tired of the big man absorbing big hits. Fletcher is slowly becoming my new favorite wrestler on the AEW roster. The turnbuckle brainbuster looked brutal. Hobbs’ run-in was a smooth transition to the next match.
Miss – Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Mark Davis
We got a Von Wagner cameo before Hobbs versus Davis. Somebody on the internet said Wagner got it backwards with how he became an extra after being a Superstar, and I couldn’t stop laughing. As for Hobbs vs. Davis, this was barely above a squash match with Davis getting a few hits on Hobbs before falling to a spinebuster.
Hit – Swerve Strickland and Jon Moxley’s confrontation on AEW Dynamite
Swerve getting into Adam Page’s face backstage popped this writer big time. The in-ring promo segment with Mox was brilliant as well. Swerve needs to be the guy to dethrone Moxley at AEW Dynasty. Mox got a taste of his own medicine when Swerve brought Willow to take care of Marina Shafir. The mixed tag team match next week is going to be something.
Miss – Rated FTR’s sit-down interview
The segment didn’t provide enough explanation as to why Harwood walked out on Cope and Wheeler. The trios title match announcement for AEW Dynasty felt rushed. Harwood showed signs of dissension despite being apologetic for his actions from the previous AEW Dynamite.
Hit – Mark Brisco vs. Konsosuke Takeshita
Mark Brisco continues to deliver in his role as the veteran. Takeshita was brilliant as always. He’s called the Alpha for a reason. Glad they had Takeshita escape Jay Driller with a rope break instead of the kickout at 2.99999 seconds. The move has a legacy that needs to protected. This writer won’t ever get tired of seeing Takeshita drop his opponents with the Falcon Arrow. Truly devastating!
Miss – Women’s tag team main event on AEW Dynamite
Rosa waiting for Megan to look back when she could’ve easily caught her by surprise is one of my biggest gripes from modern pro wrestling. Some wrestlers gave it away way to much. These minor errors do not suit a professional like Rosa. As for the outcome, Megan pinned Storm to look strong days before she challenges for the Women’s World Championship at Dynasty.
