Ricky Morton: Being A Legitimate Heel In Pro Wrestling Is A Dying Art

Ricky Morton wishes there were less “cool heels” in professional wrestling today.

The perception of a heel in professional wrestling has greatly changed over the last few decades. Thanks to groups like the nWo, D-Generation X, and Bullet Club, today’s fans believe that a heel should have some semblance of a cool factor.

This isn’t something that existed in old school wrestling, as heels were supposed to have no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Wrestling legend Ricky Morton recently took to social media to chime in on today’s heels, believing that being a legitimate heel in 2025 is a dying art, tweeting out:

“In today’s business, being a legitimate, authentic heel is a dying art. Why? Because 90% of the guys want the cheers. Even when they’re supposed to be the ones getting booed. Everybody wants the pop, nobody wants the heat,” Ricky Morton said in a post.

Morton was last seen on AEW programming being attacked by FTR who just recently went heel again after turning on long-time friend, Adam Copeland.
