New CM Punk Merchandise Inspired by Iconic Punk Rock Band

CM Punk’s new WWE merchandise pays tribute to an iconic punk rock band.

Punk showed off his new merchandise on WWE RAW ahead of his big match against Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam. The new shirt features a fist holding a lightning bolt logo, which is often depicted on CM Punk merchandise. A second shirt was also released. This is a pink tee that simply says “PUNK” across a black bar, in pink capital letters.

However, as some fans pointed out, the black t-shirt seemingly took design cues from the legendary punk rock band Bad Brains. Specifically, it looks similar to Bad Brains’ 1982 self-titled album Bad Brains. This album has also been referred to as “The Yellow Tape.”

This fits CM Punk’s style, as his designs have often had a rock vibe to them. Punk also honors his musical roots with his theme song, as Living Colour is the artist behind his entrance theme song, “Cult Of Personality.” Punk’s WWE return in 2023 marked the use of a new version of the song. Living Colour re-recorded the song so the band gets royalties from WWE’s use of the song instead of the record company holding the rights to the original.

Speaking in an interview with Robbie Fox of My Mom’s Basement, CM Punk and Rhea Ripley were asked about the stiffest wrestler they’ve ever gotten in the ring with. Rhea Ripley shared her pick, naming Shayna Baszler as the stiffest opponent she’s worked with. Ripley said they both prefer a more physical style in the ring.

Punk revealed that a wrestling legend hit him harder than anyone else in his career. Check out Punk’s pick for hardest-hitting opponent here.
