Carmelo Hayes recently responded to a hashtag that went viral on social media calling for him to be used better in WWE.
In a recent post, Hayes — who recently celebrated his 31st birthday on August 1 — thanked fans for their support. While he mentioned birthday wishes and edits, Hayes also specifically thanked fans for “hashtags.” He also mentioned that he didn’t realize how loved he was.
He also ended the post with his own pair of hashtags. Specifically, telling fans that they are seen and heard. Over the past week, a “We Want Melo” hashtag began trending on the wrestling-focused parts of the internet. Fans using the hashtag expressed their unhappiness with Hayes’ time in WWE’s main roster so far.
After being called up to WWE‘s main roster in 2024, Hayes has been a regular participant in matches, but has yet to really break out. The star won the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal in 2025, which served as his first major accomplishment as a member of WWE’s main roster. Prior to his call up, Hayes was a decorated champion in NXT.
He is a former NXT Champion, two-time NXT North American Champion, one-time NXT Cruiserweight Champion, and more.
