Matt Hardy Speaks Out on TNA Potentially Going Head-to-Head with AEW

Matt Hardy says WWE might be helping TNA grow to create stronger competition for AEW.

Last month, Jon Alba of Sports Illustrated reported that TNA is negotiating a new TV deal, possibly moving to a WWE associated network possibly The CW network and considering a Wednesday night slot to go head-to-head with AEW Dynamite.

TNA star Matt Hardy shared his thoughts on the possibility of Impact competing directly with AEW Dynamite. On The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, he said, “AEW is, obviously, finding a lot of success; you have Tony Khan, his father Shad Khan, they have plenty of money, no doubt about it, and they aren’t going to be, you know, going broke any time soon. It felt like, to me, WWE, more than anything else, was trying to build TNA up, to some degree, to help make it a rival for AEW.”

Hardy said he isn’t sure if TNA’s plans are intended to directly challenge AEW. Despite the speculation, Hardy doesn’t believe TNA will move Impact to Wednesday nights. “I, honestly, I don’t see it happening,” he said. “I’ve asked several people about it, and maybe it was in a conversation at some point, but I haven’t heard anything to suggest that it’s a conversation.” [H/T: WrestlingInc]

As of now, there has been no confirmation of a new TV deal for TNA Wrestling. However, TNA President Carlos Silva said he wants the brand to air live all 52 weeks of the year.
