It is safe to say that the Greatest of All Time in professional wrestling is the 17-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion, John Cena. Throughout his 23-year-long wrestling career, the Leader of the Cenation has wrestled multiple legends and a bunch of future Hall of Famers as well.
One such WWE Superstar shared that John Cena played a pivatol role in his success as a professional wrestler. The wrestler is none other than former WWE United States Champion Rusev. While speaking to VoxCatch, Rusev shared that he learned a lot from John Cena. He also shared that he will forever be thankful to Cena.
“I learned a lot from John Cena you know. I got to wrestle him quite a bit throughout my years in WWE and I owe a lot of my success to him because I got to learn from him, wrestling him, beating him as well, I’m always going to be thankful for that. That moment was special, you know, it’s WrestleMania. That’s the pinnacle of every professional wrestler, and to go out on a tank with my wife Lana in front of 75,000 people was absolutely a dream that you can’t even- you can’t even have when you’re a kid because you can’t, especially in Bulgaria where I come from, it’s very hard to dare to dream, right? So this was like a very surreal moment and I’m thankful to God and Jesus because he made it all possible.” [H/T Fightful.com]
Rusev is also open to having one more match against John Cena before his retirement tour comes to an end.
“Oh, that would be absolutely yes, sir. But will I hurt him? Yes, sir. Will I beat him? Yes, sir. So maybe I’m not going to be an appropriate opponent for a farewell John Cena tour,” Rusev said.
