WWE Had ‘Significant Say’ In Booking Direction Of TNA Bound For Glory Match — Report

The ongoing partnership between WWE and TNA Wrestling led to a booking decision that upset many fans this weekend at Bound For Glory.

One of the most anticipated matches for TNA Bound For Glory on Sunday was the X-Division Championship match between Leon Slater and Je’Von Evans of NXT. While the match itself was embraced by a majority of the fanbase, the closing minutes of the match left a sour taste in many people’s mouths.

The match initially ended in a time-limit draw. Which isn’t the norm for TNA, as they’ve never utilized a time limit draw in the history of the promotion. This prompted Santino Marella to restart the match, giving Slater and Evans five more minutes to determine a winner.

This didn’t end up lasting long as NXT’s DarkState appeared in the crowd and hit the ring, attacking and laying out both men. A finish that would be perfectly acceptable for weekly television, but not TNA’s biggest pay-per-view of the year. So why did this hotly anticipated match end this way?

Who’s to blame for that finish at Bound For Glory?

According to Jon Alba of Sports Illustrated, WWE had significant say in the finish of that X-Division Title match. With some sources indicating that WWE has “a lot of pull” when it comes to how their talents are used on weekly TNA programming.

Despite the finish upsetting many, there are plans in motion for another match between the two talented performers. With one source telling Alba that it could take place as soon as Halloween Havoc later this month. Whether that match will actually feature a clean finish or not, we’ll find out soon enough.

Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information as it becomes available.
