Joey Janela Highlights AEW’s Biggest Fumble

Joey Janela believes Danhausen could have been AEW‘s version of R-Truth had the company not dropped the ball with him.

Danhausen has not appeared on All Elite Wrestling programming in several months. He was last seen at ROH Final Battle in 2024. His contract reportedly expired in July, but the company added injury time despite creative having nothing planned for him.

Danhausen made his AEW debut during the Orange Cassidy vs. Adam Cole match at Dynamite: Beach Break in 2022. His distraction helped Cassidy secure the win in the “Lights Out” match against Cole.

Former AEW star Joey Janela recently described Danhausen’s AEW run as the “biggest ball dropped” by the company. Danhausen’s name was brought up by a fan after Janela asked followers to name any wrestler from any promotion for him to give his honest opinion.

“Biggest ball dropped by AEW. Best merch, biggest potential merch seller, most marketable, could’ve been AEWs R truth would’ve figured out a spot for him for life,” Janela wrote.

Danhausen has continued to wrestle on the independent circuit during his absence from Tony Khan’s promotion. Fans will have to wait and see whether he returns to AEW television before his contract expires in 2026.
