The Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize controversy continues to draw more opinions.
Newell and Alize reportedly walked out during the November 8 AEW Collision taping due to an alleged disagreement over the structuring of their tag team match against TayJay (Tay Melo and Anna Jay).
Another report claimed Newell and Alize had requested more time for their match after being booked for a three-minute outing against the more established team of TayJay. Fightful also confirmed earlier reports of the internal reaction to Maya World and Hyan subbing for Newell and Alize at the last minute.
Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize explained their side during a Twitch stream. The former Tegan Nox dismissed rumors of bad blood between the tag team and All Elite Wrestling. They also addressed speculation involving Newell’s alleged issue with Megan Bayne during an earlier match.
Taya Valkyrie reacts to the Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize controversy
Taking to social media, AEW/ROH star Taya Valkyrie shared her point of view on the controversy. While Taya didn’t mention Newell and Alize by name, she seemingly reacted to their comments about not wanting to work a three-minute television match.
“At the end of the day, this is a business, it is our job. It doesn’t matter if you get 1 minute or 45, you make every second in front of those fans and on that TV count. It is an honor and a privilege to be part of the show. I’ve been doing this for 15 years and I’ve been in every position, good, bad, champ, enhancement…. and every single aspect of the show, small or big is important. Make it count ❤️ And that’s my Ted talk,” she wrote.
Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize made their AEW television debut on the October 25 episode of Collision. They wrestled their first match for the promotion against Megan Bayne and Marina Shafir during the October 29 Collision taping. The match aired on tape delay on November 1.
