Carmelo Hayes wants to set the record straight.
The Triple Crown NXT Champion hasn’t had the easiest time on SmackDown since being called up to the main roster in the WWE Draft. Many of Hayes’ fans expected him to have a much better run on the main roster than we’ve seen from him so far.
While many fans have created rumors and speculation as to why Carmelo’s push hasn’t panned out in WWE yet, it seems we can now confirm that it has nothing to do with WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman.
A member of the WWE Universe recently posted a rumor on social media claiming that Heyman refused to work with Hayes, tweeting out:
“Sources in WWE have said that Paul Heyman refuses to work with Carmelo Hayes, couldn’t even look at him in the eyes during the meeting in Creative and [Heyman] pitched Logan Paul to be part of The Vision instead. Man this fat pig really is racist,” the fan said in a now-deleted post.
Before the post could be deleted, it was seen by the SmackDown Superstar, who was quick to shut down this rumor, calling it bullshit, tweeting out:
“Idk what you were trying to accomplish with this bullshit post. This couldn’t be further from the truth,” Carmelo Hayes said in response.
And that should put a stop to that rumor once and for all.
Carmelo Hayes sees the support for him from the WWE Universe
In recent weeks, Hayes has seemingly undergone a babyface turn on SmackDown. This comes months after a very vocal online fan campaign asking for the former NXT Champion to get more opportunities on the main roster.
Over the summer, Hayes took to social media to thank the WWE Universe for their support. You can check out that tweet in the embedded post below:
