Pro Wrestling Legend Comes Out Of Retirement At WrestleCade 2025

WrestleCade 2025 witnessed the in-ring return of a legendary pro wrestler.

61-year-old wrestling legend Jushin “Thunder” Liger retired from in-ring competition after his last match at NJPW WrestleKingdom 14 in 2020, where he teamed up with Naoki Sano in a losing effort against Hiromu Takahashi and Ryu Lee (WWE Superstar Dragon Lee).

Following his retirement, Jushin Liger was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2020 and continues as a trainer and commentator in NJPW. However, he made a surprising return to in-ring competition at the WrestleCade convention at the Benton Convention Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, last Saturday.

He took on current GCW and former AEW star Joey Janela at the event and defeated him in under two minutes. Janela shared the clip of Jushin Liger’s entrance at the event, saying he thought he saw a ghost.

“I thought I saw a ghost! In highschool when I was 16, I would bring a portable dvd player on the bus and watch the George Mayfied 7 hour Jushin Liger compilation, 20 years later some how @wrestlecade made this wizardry happen! Spectacular feels!”

A Wrestling Legend’s Iconic Prop Got Stolen At WrestleCade 2025

Another pro wrestling legend who was present at the 2025 WrestleCade convention was WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy Hart. However, his appearance didn’t turn out as expected, as someone stole his iconic megaphone.

WrestleCade announced on their official X/Twitter account that the venue has HD cameras and that the police have started their investigation after going through the footage. However, the legendary manager isn’t looking to press charges and just wants the megaphone back.

Apart from Jushin Liger and Jimmy Hart, WWE and WCW legend Kevin Nash was also supposed to appear at WrestleCade 2025. However, he ended up missing it and has explained the reason behind his absence.
