WrestleMania 42: Top Name Favored To Win WWE Championship

A top name is favored to dethrone Cody Rhodes at WWE WrestleMania 42.

With WWE Survivor Series: WarGames in the rearview mirror, the road to WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas is now coming into focus. Atop the discussions for the grand event lies the possibility of another one-on-one meeting between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes, the latter of whom currently reigns as the Undisputed WWE Champion.

Seeds for Rhodes vs. Reigns 3 were planted ahead of Survivor Series, when Reigns stated that one of Rhodes’ and CM Punk’s world titles would look good on his shoulder. After a team loss in WarGames at the November 29th premium live event, Reigns shook Punk’s hand as a sign of respect. In Rhodes’ case, though, Reigns walked past him, then asserted that WarGames 2025 would be the last time they’d ever team together.

Given this series of events, many fans are now under the impression that Reigns’ aforementioned remark was specifically directed at “The American Nightmare.” Additionally, BetOnline has opened a line for a potential WrestleMania trilogy match between Reigns and Rhodes.

As it stands, the opening odds give Roman Reigns a 66.7% likelihood of winning and dethroning Rhodes as Undisputed WWE Champion at WrestleMania 42. BetOnline adds that the match must occur for action at WrestleMania.

The official opening line is as follows:

Cody Rhodes (c)                          +150     (3/2)

Roman Reigns                              -200     (1/2)

Elsewhere, Reigns is also currently favored to win the 2026 Men’s Royal Rumble match, which allows the victor to pursue a championship of his choosing at WrestleMania. Bron Breakker and Seth Rollins follow closely behind in the respective betting odds.

WWE WrestleMania 42 will emanate from Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium on April 18 and 19.
