Drew McIntyre Mocks Cody Rhodes For Getting Emotional After John Cena’s Last Match

Drew McIntyre trolls Cody Rhodes.

Like many fans, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes found himself in an emotional state after John Cena fulfilled the final match and salute of his in-ring career. In fact, Rhodes was so moved that he remained at ringside by himself for several minutes after WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event went off the air, staring at the sneakers and bands Cena left behind.

Drew McIntyre, on the other hand, doesn’t seem sold on Rhodes’ tears. “Is there a camera rolling? Yeah? Okay just stay on me here,'” he wrote on X, mocking Rhodes.

For months, McIntyre and Rhodes have feuded over the latter’s Undisputed WWE Championship, with both men unleashing attacks on the other in between title matches. Looking ahead, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis has granted McIntyre another shot at the respective title. McIntyre will choose the stipulation for this title match, which has yet to be assigned a specific time and place.

Rhodes Explains His Emotions Following SNME

Amidst Rhodes’ emotional showing on the Saturday Night’s Main Event post-show, WWE correspondent Jackie Redmond approached him for a comment about it. According to Rhodes, his feelings surrounding Cena’s retirement were hard to describe. Overall, though, he saw it as a time for reflection and celebration.

“In a sense of all the positives that he brought to our industry and leaving it better than he found it. Wrestling is — there’s a way it ends, you know? And he did everything right by the book,” Rhodes said of Cena. “It’s just still like when it’s that good, you don’t want it to end. I know that’s vague, but he did everything by the book, and taught so many people and set such a high standard, such a high bar.

“I’m not trying to get emotional on his night, but more than anything, just take a moment and think about those sneakers, and the pump-ups before that. And the man who filled those, and what he was able to do, and through good times, through bad times. Tonight, everyone is just chanting, let’s go Cena. Not a let’s go Cena. Cena sucks in the house. Just let’s go, Cena. It’s just everything. I’m so happy it happened.”
