Tony Khan Believes This AEW Star Saved The First All In: London Event

Tony Khan praises this AEW star for saving the first All In: London event.

All Elite Wrestling President Tony Khan recently spoke with Q101. When asked if putting together the first Forbidden Door was the most stressful pay-per-view he’s ever been a part of, Khan said that the first All In at Wembley Stadium takes that crown and credits former AEW World Champion Samoa Joe for saving that show.

“The most stressful pay-per-view was the first Wembley by far,” Tony Khan admitted. “Samoa Joe saved the day there. I think it was very good that Samoa Joe de-escalated the situation, and also that Samoa Joe made sure that the fans got the match that they thought they had paid to see, and he went out there, and everything was great.

“And he was such a professional. That exemplifies Samoa Joe in the ring and out of the ring, the most professional man. And he was so great that day, and so many other times, he’s one of the most incredible people I’ve ever met. What a leader Samoa Joe is in the ring and out of the ring, a captain, a true captain of a team. And I’m very blessed that he’s in AEW.”

What is Tony Khan referring to?

For those who weren’t fans of the company back in 2023, Khan is referring to the final AEW event that featured CM Punk. The current WWE Superstar, who was billed at the time as the “real World Champion,” was set to defend his title against Samoa Joe.

Before the match, Punk got into a backstage encounter with Jack Perry, which put the match in jeopardy. Luckily, Samoa Joe smoothed things over, and the match went on as scheduled.
