WWE may have quietly planted the seeds for a marquee WrestleMania showdown on the February 20 episode of SmackDown, as a tense moment between Jade Cargill and Charlotte Flair turned heads backstage.
The exchange came shortly after Nia Jax and Lash Legend unveiled their new tag team name, “Irresistible For-Ces.”
As the segment wrapped, WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill made her entrance and addressed the state of her title reign.
Cargill referenced her recent victory over Jordynne Grace on the February 13 episode, a win that pushed her past the 100-day mark as champion.
She stated that while critics “talk online and lie,” they “fold” when they step to her. With Liv Morgan set to make a decision Monday in Atlanta — Cargill’s hometown — the champion promised to be there face-to-face.
No matter who emerges from Elimination Chamber, she made it clear that come WrestleMania, she’ll still be champion.
Charlotte Flair Interrupts Jade Cargill on WWE SmackDown
As Cargill finished and began heading backstage, Charlotte Flair made her entrance for a Triple Threat Elimination Chamber qualifying match against Nia Jax and Kiana James. The timing wasn’t lost on anyone.
Cargill took exception to Flair walking past her without acknowledgment and confronted the 14-time champion face-to-face. Charlotte responded with a simple “Wooo!” before referee Ryan Tran stepped in to separate them and usher Cargill to the back.
The moment added another chapter to their ongoing tension. Earlier in 2025, Cargill famously told Flair to “go to the back of the line.” In January 2026, Cargill publicly named Flair as her “dream opponent,” saying she wanted to test herself against the decorated veteran.
Later in the night, Kiana James won the qualifying match with a crucifix pin on Flair, securing her spot in the Elimination Chamber.
Still, the brief but charged exchange between Cargill and Flair has fueled speculation that WWE could be steering toward a high-profile clash at WrestleMania 42. For now, the tease is in — and the division is on notice.
