AJ Styles has confirmed that even though he has retired from in-ring competition, he plans to continue working with WWE.
Styles had his final match against Gunther at WWE Royal Rumble 2026. The loss marked the end of his in-ring career. After the match, fans began speculating about his future. Many believed the former WWE Champion could possibly join AEW.
Reports suggested Styles was well aware that AEW would have offered him a big contract and a lighter schedule if he continued wrestling. However, Karl Anderson revealed that Styles was dealing with ongoing neck issues. Styles himself also downplayed the AEW rumors, simply saying it was time to retire.
Those problems played a major role in his decision to retire. Earlier this week on WWE RAW, Styles received an emotional farewell in his hometown. It was a special moment for the former champion. At the end of the segment came a huge surprise as WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker made his way to the ring.
He then announced that Styles will be inducted into the 2026 WWE Hall of Fame. With the induction confirmed, many fans began wondering about his future. Styles has now addressed those questions.
AJ Styles Says He Wants To Help Develop Younger WWE Talent
Speaking on Talk N Shop, Styles confirmed that he is staying with WWE in a new role. He said, “Listen, I don’t know how many people know this, and this will get you some traction if you need it. I’m still going to be working with WWE. That’s not going to change. I have these dreams and aspirations of helping out the younger talent and helping them get ready.”
He continued, “And if somebody’s not ready, once they get there, it’s my job to hopefully help them get to that point where they can do well and they’re confident when they step into a WWE ring. That they have the ability and the talent. They’re one of the boys or one of the girls. They belong and being able to help with that is a blessing. I’m so excited about it.”
