AEW Collision Results

MJF is here to open up Collision. He comes down to the ring VERY angry and demands that the AEW Revolution situation be fixed. He says he’s not an “indie deathmatch wrestler,” and that Tony Khan better change his and Hangman Page’s match or else the show isn’t going to start at all.

Kevin Knight’s music hits and out comes one member of the AEW Trios Champions. He says that he heard MJF wants something down, then said he’s been getting the job done as of late. Knight said this week’s job will be getting ahead of the “whiny crybaby ass bitch” that MJF is being right now. He continued to take some surprising shots at MJF, saying he was more handsome, more successful, more talented, etc.

MJF then challenged him to a world title match at Dynamite, and said by the time he was done with Knight, he would just be history.

The Death Riders (PAC, Daniel Garcia, Wheeler Yuta, Claudio Castagnoli) vs. The Don Callis Family (Josh Alexander, Trent Beretta, Rocky Romero, Lance Archer)

  • In one of the longer matches of the night, the Death Riders walked out as the winners here. The match ended with Wheeler Yuta hitting the Busaiku Knee on Rocky Romero for the win.

Winners – The Death Riders

After the match, Konosuke Takeshita appeared, and came down to the ring. He and Moxley continued going after it, and a major brawl broke out with everyone, but Takeshita and Moxley made sure to keep going.

Grade: A

This was a great opener! The Moxley and Takeshita stuff is clearly building to another epic match, and I’m here for it.

Tommaso Ciampa vs. Jay Lethal

  • Ciampa gets the win here, in a surprisingly close bout between the two stars. The math comes to an end with some chaos, as The Swirl attempted to get involved. Ciampa won after hitting two massive knees to Lethal’s face for the win.

Winner – Tommaso Ciampa

Grade: B+

Another solid match here, and Ciampa clearly feels right at home in the company. It would be nice to see him get some bigger matches in the future, but for now this will do.

The Brawling Birds (Alex Windsor & Jamie Hayter) vs. Gypsy Mac & Tyra Russamee

  • The Brawling Birds win this one fairly easily. It ends with Hayter and Windsor hitting a double clothesline on Russamee, who had been isolated in the ring after Mac was thrown outside. They followed it with a double finisher for the win.

Winners – The Brawling Birds

Grade: C

More or less a squash match of sorts. It was nice seeing The Brawling Birds get some buzz, though.

ProtOkada (Kyle Fletcher & Kazuchika Okada) vs. Top Flight (Darius & Dante Martin)

  • Don Callis is on commentary to watch as ProtOkada come out with the win. The match ends with Fletcher getting tagged back in by Okada, then hitting a brainbuster on Darius Martin to close things out.

Winners – ProtOkada

After the match, Fletcher took to the mic and began demanding the crowd say his full name. He said he and Okada are the two greatest champions in AEW history, and now together, they would be unstoppable. JetSpeed is here now too, and ready to get on the mic. Mike Bailey says that Okada and Fletcher couldn’t be the best since he already beat Fletcher, and Kevin Knight beat Okada in the Continental Classic.

Knight says once he beats MJF for the title next week, he wouldn’t mind having Okada be his next opponent. Bailey said that he, Knight, and Adam Page also wouldn’t mind putting the AEW trios titles on the line against Okada, Fletcher, and whatever member of the Don Callis Family they want to choose.

Grade: B+

This was a solid match, but really did more to set up the future stuff than anything else, sadly.

Darby Allin and Orange Cassidy are backstage and talking about their challenge to Clark Connors and Gabe Kidd, saying they’re ready to go.

Toni Storm vs. Zayda Steel

  • Storm takes this one, unsurprisingly. The end of the match sees Storm hit a hip attack followed by a Storm Zero for the win.

Winner – Toni Storm

After the match, Marina Shafir comes down to the ring and brawls with Storm. Wheeler Yuta is also here, and he grabs Storm, but has his toupee pulled off before scurrying into the crowd. Storm then stares down Shafir as she puts on Yuta’s hat for the crowd.

Grade: C+

I mean…I guess. This was a funny segment, but didn’t feature much in the way of entertaining wrestling.

Backstage, Hook is talking about people wanting to join The Opps. Anthony Bowens walks up on him and insinuates he was also looking to join the group. Hook said he wasn’t sure if Bowens had what it takes to join the group of “killers,” but would think about it.

The Sisters of Sin (Skye Blue & Julia Hart) vs. Kris Statlander & Thunder Rosa

  • Thunder Rosa and Kris Statlander come out on top here. The match comes to an end with Statlander in the ring after Rosa drags Julia Hart out of the ring. Down to just her and Skye Blue, Statlander hits a piledriver, then Rosa comes in for the pin.

Winners – Kris Statlander and Thunder Rosa

After the match, Thekla comes out to the ring. She calls Statlander and Rosa “two dumb bitches” and recalls how she made Statlander cry after taking the AEW Women’s World Championship. Thekla said that’s because she wasn’t fighting just to win, but to “kill,” and now she is the face of the AEW Women’s division, and both Rosa and Kris are forgotten and the past.

Grade: B-

Good match in the ring, and nice to see Statlander back in action and looking like she never left. The feud with Thekla continues to get great build, and their match next week should be awesome as a result.

Andrade El Idolo vs. Tomohiro Ishii

  • In the final match of the night, Andrade El Idolo comes away with the win. He got a ton of nearfalls toward the end, but finally put away Ishii by hitting the DM to win it.

Winner – Andrade El Idolo

After the match, Bandido comes out! He and Andrade stare each other down as the two AEW Revolution opponents have a moment.

Grade: B+

A great closing match to the night. Andrade and Ishii are both so fun to watch, it would be hard to be disappointed with anything these two do in the ring.

AEW Collision Review

All in all, this wasn’t the best show compared to the past three weeks. With Grand Slam in the rearview and still some buildup to Revolution to go, this felt like the most “filler” show of Collision we’ve had in some time. Still, there were some great matches and segments, especially Andrade and Ishii’s bout, as well as more ProtOkada. We’ll see ya next week!
