Former WWE Star Claimed John Cena Killed Nexus Storyline

Former WWE star Michael Tarver has made a bold claim about John Cena, accusing him of hurting one of hottest storylines.

Tarver recently said that Cena played a major role in ending The Nexus storyline too early. Tarver debuted as part of The Nexus in 2010, a group that quickly became one of the most dominant factions in WWE. The group shocked fans when they attacked John Cena during his match with CM Punk and destroyed the ring on their very first night.

The faction, formed during the first season of NXT, built huge momentum. They targeted top WWE stars and made a strong impact every week. Their rivalry with Cena eventually led to a massive 7-on-7 elimination match at SummerSlam 2010 against Team WWE.

During the match, Cena found himself in a two-on-one situation against Wade Barrett and Justin Gabriel. Despite being at a disadvantage after a brutal DDT on the concrete, Cena made a comeback and secured the win for Team WWE.

Former WWE star Michael Tarver blames John Cena for The Nexus storyline

Speaking on the F Y’All Podcast, Michael Tarver said the storyline was cut short and directly blamed Cena. He said, “One person. (John Cena) One person, I don’t work there no more I can tell the truth. I’ve been telling the truth the last 11 years since I left there, it was him. It was straight up him.”

He made it clear that he still respects Cena but wanted to speak honestly. “Much respect to John Cena, but the truth is still the truth. So John Cena was kind of, he was kind of at point of the Nexus storyline, we were centering it around him, so he kind of took point. Which is great, that’s good, it’s John Cena. Problem is, it’s John Cena, and nobody’s perfect.”

Tarver shared his vision for how the storyline should have gone. He said, “So once the storyline got going, and we actually started to really get some traction, I felt like him beating us at SummerSlam was greedy, and he’s actually done interviews and said it was a mistake, he shouldn’t have done that.”

“He said it himself, which I respect that, but it took a lot of people the past 11 years to be like ‘yo man, you killed something that would have been the biggest thing in a very long time, and what did it get you?’ It didn’t help you at all to kill us, it would have helped you more to (lose).”

“In my opinion that storyline should have went all the way through to WrestleMania, and that match, we should have won, and we should have destroyed everything all the way through to WrestleMania. Then, put together a super team, go get the Avengers, Superman, and they come and beat the Nexus.”

“Then from that point, with all seven-eight of us, they had enough to replenish the roster for the next generation of superstars. They had something in all of us that they could do, and instead they chose politics. It’s all good.” [H/T: Wrestletalk]
