WWE Planning Saturday Night’s Main Event at Major Venue

WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event is returning to an iconic venue for the first time since 2007.

According to Wrestlevotes Radio (via Fightful Select), WWE has planned a Saturday Night’s Main Event special for July 18 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The show falls on the same weekend as Fanatics Fest, an event in which the promotion will be heavily involved.

The last time WWE hosted a Saturday Night’ Main Event in Madison Square Garden was in August 2007. CM Punk is the only active wrestler remaining in WWE who competed in that event. This year’s show will also be the first time it airs live in MSG, as it aired on tape delay in 2007.

WWE also recently revealed the date and location for the next edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event. The show will take place on May 23 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Tickets for the event went on sale on March 20. The show will take place two weeks after the Backlash PLE in Tampa, Florida.

The most recent Saturday Night’s Main Event took place on January 24 in Montreal, Canada. The show’s lineup featured three matches, including AJ Styles’ final one-on-one encounter against Shinsuke Nakamura.

WWE is currently gearing up for WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas, Nevada, on April 18 and 19.
