Gunther’s frustration boiled over backstage at WWE Night of Champions following his loss in the Undisputed WWE Championship main event.
The former World Heavyweight Champion was seen backstage in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, shortly after the conclusion of the triple threat match featuring Cody Rhodes and Sami Zayn,
Night of Champions ended with a shocking title change, as Sami Zayn upset Cody Rhodes to win the WWE Championship. Gunther was visibly agitated as he confronted SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis.
In the clip shared by WWE on X, Gunther immediately accused Aldis of bias, telling him, “You screwed me over in Europe,” before further alleging he had been wronged again at Night of Champions.
As Aldis attempted to respond, Gunther cut him off and told him to shut up, refusing to allow the SmackDown GM to explain his position.
Tensions Escalate Between Gunther And Nick Aldis After WWE Night Of Champions
An official who attempted to separate the two was pushed aside by Gunther, further intensifying the situation. Aldis immediately warned him against putting his hands on WWE personnel, but the exchange continued to escalate.
Gunther also accused Aldis of making things personal, claiming, “You’re jealous because you want to be in my position.” Moments later, the situation broke down completely as both men continued shouting and shoving each other before producers and officials were finally able to separate them.
On the post-show coverage, Big E questioned whether the incident could be leading to something bigger, suggesting that the escalating tension between Gunther and Aldis may not be over and could have further implications moving forward.
