Grade: B

This match was exceptional. Jey was on his game tonight and looked as if he was going to put this away several times. The specter of Brock Lesnar loomed over this match, with most everyone expecting Lesnar to ruin this for Femi. WWE did the right thing here. For once, they didn’t fall into bad booking habits and went with the right winner. The Ruler has his crown and will be where he should be; in the main event title picture. And that promo after the win was amazing.

Danhausen is on the stage but before he can get to the point, Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan walks out on the stage and demands Danhausen pay The Judgment Day the money he owes them or bad things will happen to him. Winner and 2026 Queen of the Ring, IYO SKY!

After the match, SKY is handed her crown. SKY points at Morgan, who is stewing at ringside, and announces she will see Morgan at SummerSlam.

Grade: B-

These two have good chemistry, so this was always going to have a solid contest. Morgan adding submissions to her arsenal is a good look. There isn’t a bevy of submission “specialists” in the women’s division (not that she is, but close enough). After getting cursed before the match, Morgan had no chance in hell of winning this.

Steel Cage Match | Seth Rollins vs. Bron Breakker

As Rollins enters the cage, he brings in a bunch of weapons. Rollins sits in a chair, waiting for Breakker. As Breakker enters, he follows suit, bringing in various implements of destruction. Rollins pins Breakker!

Winner- Seth Rollins

Grade: B

This match didn’t have the most auspicious of starts; bringing weapons into a cage is the definition of a hat-on-a-hat. Overlooking that, this developed into an incredible cage match. Breakker and Rollins both attempted to murder each other tonight, and it’s hard not to give both men a standing ovation for their efforts. This one could have ended several times, but the actual finish of this one was exceptional.

United States Championship Match | Trick Williams (c) vs. Ricky Saints

Saints attacks Williams before the bell rings. Williams catches Saints with a leaping clothesline. Williams stomps Saints in the corner. Saints rolls out to avoid the Trick Shot. Winner and STILL United States Champion, Trick Williams!

After the match, Saints tries a sneak attack, but Boat reappears and hits Saints with a kendo stick. Williams Trick slaps Saints. Williams tells Boat to drop an elbow. Boat hits Saints with the People’s ElBOAT.

Grade: C+

This match was solid. Saints’ best match since making the main roster. Placing this after that cage match took some of the umpf out of this one.

Women’s United States Championship Match | Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Jade Cargill

Stratton attacks as soon as the bell rings. Basement dropkick by Stratton. Hip attack by Stratton. Stratton tries a dive, but eats a knee to the face. Cargill works over Stratton. Cargill pulls Green into the ring. Cargill tries to grab the United States Championship, but Charlotte Flair appears and hits Cargill with the championship. Stratton hits her finish for the win!

Winner and STILL Women’s United States Champion, Tiffany Stratton!

Grade: C+

This one was a bit all over the place to start, but the action picked up when all of the shenanigans started. I don’t think we need to see Cargill and Stratton wrestle again for a long time. We need Cargill vs. Flair at SummerSlam. That’s the match.

Rhodes surprises Gunther with a Super Cody Cutter! Zayn locks Gunther in a sleeper. Rhodes grabs Zayn and hits a double Crossroads! Rhodes tries to set up the Trifecta, but Zayn counters with a roll up for the… win… wait, what, ZAYN WINS, ZAYN WINS!

Winner and NEEEWWWWW Undisputed WWE Champion, Sami Zayn!

Grade: A

This was one of the best triple-threat matches this writer has seen. Everything these three did made perfect sense. Yes, getting sent into the ringsteps will cause you to be out on the floor for a while. Getting punched in the head and sent over the top didn’t lead to folks being out of the match for minutes at a time. Gunther, Rhodes, and Zayn put on a clinic tonight. It was Sami Zayn’s time. Finally, a world champion… but he may have the dubious distinction of a short reign. The Ruler is potentially right around the corner, waiting for him.

WWE Night of Champions Review

Heck of a show with several standout matches. Match of the night honors go to Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker for that barnburner of a cage match. As WWE marches toward SummerSlam, there is potential for the show to be an epic one with all of the storylines and narratives coming out of this show. This was one of the best PLE of the year for WWE.
