CM Punk: Pat McAfee Forgot He’s a Tourist in WWE, It’s My Job To Check Him

CM Punk says certain privileges can be revoked if some people forget their place.

Punk appeared on the All The Smoke podcast ahead of WrestleMania 42. Punk is set to face Roman Reigns in the main event of night two on Sunday, but he also has a mini-feud of sorts going with Pat McAfee. The two have exchanged words over McAfee dragging the fans and alliance with Randy Orton, with Punk calling out McAfee for his rants about WWE ticket prices.

During the interview, Punk said that he doesn’t think Pat realizes “the dangerous things he’s doing” by provoking wrestlers. However, he feels it’s his job to keep McAfee in check.

CM Punk says Pat McAfee is not someone who should talk about selling tickets

“When he disrespects the business and he says some things out of pocket, he’s gonna get checked. And he’s gonna get checked by me. I think Pat was a wrestling fan who became famous outside the bubble and was afforded an opportunity to be invited in,” CM Punk said. “Somewhere along the line, he forgot that he’s a tourist. And to me, the invite can be easily rescinded.”

“Wrestling has always, I think, sometimes to a fault, embraced people that we believe can get eyeballs on our product. And eyeballs on our product and people actually investing and buying tickets are two wildly different things,” he continued. “You can’t be running your mouth about ticket sales and all this other stuff when you’ve never sold a ticket in your life.”

CM Punk says he would prefer not to deal with Pat. He pointed out that McAfee is Cody Rhodes’ problem right now, but “we’ll see what happens” later.
