WWE’s biggest show of the year is approaching, WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas, is reportedly facing an unexpected hurdle — filling the building hasn’t been as smooth as in previous years.
According to USA TODAY’s Jordan Mendoza, ticket distribution for the April event has been slower than usual, despite WrestleMania traditionally being a near-guaranteed sellout.
While the spectacle remains intact, the road to a packed stadium hasn’t been a straight shot down the ramp.
High WrestleMania 42 ticket prices impact sales momentum
The primary factor appears to be pricing. Reports indicate that ticket costs have climbed significantly since WWE’s merger with UFC under TKO Group Holdings in 2023, with initial two-night packages exceeding $850.
For many fans, that price tag may have turned WrestleMania into less of a must-see and more of a “must-think twice.”
As of April 10, just over 40,000 tickets had been distributed for night one and 42,000 for night two.
That’s a strong turnout for a 45,000-seat setup per night, undoubtedly. However, it marks a noticeable drop compared to WrestleMania 41, which cleared over 58,000 and 60,000 attendees across both nights. In wrestling terms, the seats aren’t empty, but they’re not exactly a full house either — more “near fall” than three-count.
Other factors may also be in play. Hosting WrestleMania in Las Vegas for a second straight year could have reduced travel urgency. Rising hotel and travel costs have added to the financial strain for fans.
WWE has responded with several late promotional pushes. Discounts have been introduced, including a 25% price cut promoted by Pat McAfee on SmackDown. Secondary market prices have also dropped compared to last year, signaling an effort to boost last-minute sales.
Despite the softer start, a source close to WWE indicated that sales have picked up in recent weeks. Nevertheless, the event is still projected to deliver one of the highest gates in company history. As WrestleMania weekend draws closer, WWE appears to be betting on a late surge — hoping the crowd comes through before the final bell.
