Jim Ross slammed WWE over its decision to place Sycho Sid in the Hall of Fame’s Legacy wing instead of the main class.
The Legacy wing was introduced back in 2016. Sid, who passed away in 2024, was included in that category. However, many felt his career deserved something bigger. That included Ross, who didn’t agree with the decision.
Even Sid’s son, Gunner Eudy, felt frustrated, especially since no family members appeared on stage and no merchandise was available during the event. Recently, Ross spoke about the situation.
He explained why he felt it was handled the wrong way. The focus was not just on the induction itself, but also how Sid was presented and honored.
Jim Ross says Sycho Sid deserved a true Hall of Fame induction
Speaking on Grilling JR, Ross shared his honest opinion. He said Sid deserved to be in the main Hall of Fame. He also supported the reaction from Sid’s son, Gunner.
“Sure, absolutely. If my daddy was going into the Hall of Fame, I’d want him to have the biggest presentation that they could assemble, that they could create, that they could produce. Based on previous years criteria by a variety of talents, Sid was overqualified to go into the Hall of Fame. As far as the legacy wing, I think that’s a joke. It’s just one way to get somebody either a payday or some recognition.”
He admitted Sid had a complicated personality backstage. He said Sid could be difficult at times, but made it clear that it shouldn’t affect his legacy.
“I understand that, God Almighty. But a guy that’s headlined WrestleMania a couple of times and was a multiple-time champion, he deserves to be in the regular Hall of Fame.”
“He was a pain in the ass sometimes, no doubt about it. He was moody. He had a lot of pride. Some who worked with him closely may say he had too much pride because he could become a pain in the ass to work with. But does that mean he didn’t deserve to be in the regular Hall of Fame? No. He should have been in the regular Hall of Fame.” [H/T: wrestlingnews.co]
