Nicole Kidman was on the set to film a pro-wrestling scene in Margo’s Got Money Troubles, but soon found herself in the hospital to treat an illness.
Kidman was suffering from the flu when she arrived on set for her first day of filming on the new Apple+ series. Kidman plays Lace, a pro wrestler who reunites with a former colleague, Jinx, played by Nick Offerman, who revealed the incident during an interview with People.
Offerman says he was on set warming up with the wrestling doubles when they got word that Kidman had the flu and might not make it to the set.
“And we’re like, ‘Oh no, that’s such a bummer, because we only have the one day that we’ve built this whole circus for.’ It’s about 8:00 in the morning that we get this news. Come to be about 11:00 a.m., the word comes in: Nicole’s coming.
“She was so pale, shaken; she just had the flu really so bad,” he continued. “She showed up and made sure that we got every shot of her, total superhero style. [Nicole] did everything we needed to so that we did not lose one scrap of what we needed for her character.”
Nicole Kidman’s dedication impressed Nick Offerman
Offerman says once Kidman wrapped for the day, she was “literally taken to the hospital for an IV” to help her recover.
“And I just said to her, I already admired you so much. But this is how you get to be Nicole Kidman, is you show up so that your show doesn’t lose a minute of your value,” he says. “It was so generous. It was astonishing.”
Margo’s Got Money Troubles stars Elle Fanning as Margo, a “recent college dropout and aspiring writer” who has to find her way after a new baby, rising expenses, and a lack of funds to pay for them. Offerman plays her pro wrestler father and Michelle Pfeiffer plays Shyanne, her mother who is also a former Hooters waitress. Marcia Gay Harden and Greg Kinnear are part of the supporting cast. AEW star Chris Jericho has a guest-starring role as a wrestler who works with Kidman and Offerman at a pro wrestling convention.
New episodes of Margo’s Got Money Troubles are released on Wednesdays on Apple TV+.
