It’s a Dupri family reunion, YEAH!
LA Knight and Maxxine Dupri were at the Mall of America this week to promote SummerSlam tickets going on sale. The Mall of America Instagram account shared photos of the pair meeting some fans during the event, and many fans quickly played up the “reunion” aspect of Knight and Dupri being in public together.
“[M]axxine and her brother are so adorable,” one fan wrote.
“So good to see you and your brother reconnect!! ?” wrote another.
Maxxine Dupri debuted as “Sofia Cromwell” in NXT before she adopted her current name. After she debuted as Maxxine, she was positioned as the on-air sister of Knight, who was going by the name “Max Dupri” at the time. Once his run with the Maximum Male Models stable fizzled out, Knight reverted back to his current name, but many fans still reflect on his gimmick change.
During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Maxxine Dupri played along and said Knight is still her brother, despite it not being mentioned much on current WWE programming.
“That is my brother. And you know what’s insane. I have a huge match on Monday versus Becky Lynch. And do you think my brother has called me to offer any advice or train me? No, he has not, and our mother is worried about him. He’s out here living by a new name, it’s crazy. It’s a whole thing. Like, if he would like to show up to a family reunion, we would be so happy to welcome him with open arms.”
All joking aside, Dupri also said she’s never been approached about changing her name.
