Independent Wrestler Braxx Tragically Killed In Philadelphia Shooting

Independent wrestler Braxx has passed away following a fatal shooting in Philadelphia.

According to 6abc Action News, 31-year-old Walter S. Holloway, known among wrestling circles as Braxx, was the victim of a fatal shooting in Philadelphia’s Point Breeze section. Officers who responded to a large crowd and disturbance in the 2100 block of Wharton Street around 10:30 pm on Wednesday heard the gunshots.

After arriving at the scene, officers found Braxx lying on the street with gunshot wounds to the head and leg. The wrestler reportedly passed away at the hospital. Policemen noted that the gunman ran away, and they are searching the surveillance footage trying to identify him. They also mentioned that the victim and the assailant were involved in a previous altercation that escalated into a shooting.

“We are getting some information that these two individuals – the shooter and the victim — may have been involved in a previous altercation as recently as yesterday, and may have escalated into the shooting today,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small, with the Philadelphia Police Department.

Braxx competed in the independent circuit and had notable matches in X Brand Wrestling and H2O Wrestling events.

Authorities have asked anyone with information about the incident to contact the Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334 or submit an anonymous tip at 215-686-TIPS.

Braxx’s friend and fellow wrestler Matt Tremont paid tribute to him

Former GCW World Champion Matt Tremont took to Instagram to post an emotional message, paying tribute to his friend.

“Just got some news that my homie Walt aka @braxx__unleashed has passed. We first met at Superkrazze Wrestling and later came to H2O. He would come hang out at GCW as well. From day 1 was respectful and super cool and chill! He wrestled each other a few times & we tagged together. He was meant to be a dominant hardcore giant in the ring and had a big heart outside of it.

“Kept in touch after we moved and always sent each other funny reels on IG. I was and always will be a Braxx guy! He was my guy, a friend and a Deathmatch warrior. My thoughts and prayers out to his family. I know Braxx is above now and with his momma who he loved dearly. Love ya Braxx 4 ever!” Matt Tremont wrote.

We at WrestleZone send our deepest condolences to Braxx’s family and friends.
