This week’s slate of HBO Max movie and TV releases includes the streaming return of one of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s recent box office successes.
Johnson’s 2018 movie Rampage is now available to watch on HBO Max as of Tuesday, May 26. The film, directed by Brad Peyton, is based on the classic arcade video game series that saw a trio of monsters destroying cities while trying to survive against the combat military forces attempting to stop them.
Johnson stars in Rampage as Primatologist Davis Okoye, a former Special Forces soldier who works at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park with George, a rare leucistic gorilla that is one of three animals transformed into an uncontrollable monster due to a genetic transformation.
The film received mixed reviews. However, it was ultimately a box office success, earning $428 million against its reported $120-140 million budget. The cast is rounded out by Naomie Harris, Malin Akerman, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
