Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has unveiled the first original song from Disney’s upcoming live-action Moana film. The release gave fans an early taste of the movie’s soundtrack ahead of its July release.
The WWE legend and Hollywood star shared details about the track on social media. He highlighted a unique collaboration that bridges the animated classic and its live-action adaptation.
The song, titled “Along The Way,” has now been released on streaming platforms and features Johnson alongside both the original and new stars of Moana.
While the film itself is still weeks away from arriving in theaters, the track offers a glimpse into how the new version plans to honor its roots while charting a fresh course.

Johnson announced the release on X, describing the song as a meaningful musical connection between the franchise’s past and future.
“Droppin’ our new song ‘Along The Way’ from live-action MOANA,” Johnson wrote.
He explained that the track serves as a “musical conversation” between original Moana voice actress Auliʻi Cravalho, newcomer Catherine Lagaʻaia, and Maui himself.
“Cool musical conversation between our OG Moana Auliʻi Cravalho, and our Demigod Maui, as we embrace our new live-action Moana Catherine Laga’aia, letting her know that we’ll always be with you… Along The Way.”
Johnson also praised songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda, adding that he had once again “raised the bar” with the composition.
Miranda echoed those sentiments. He said, “It was such a joy to drop back into the world of ‘Moana’ again and write ‘Along The Way.’”
He added that Cravalho and Lagaʻaia’s voices blended beautifully. Moreover, Lin-Manuel Miranda noted that writing songs for Johnson’s Maui character remained “pure fun.”
The track will appear on the film’s official soundtrack, which arrives June 26. A deluxe soundtrack edition follows on July 8, while the live-action Moana film reaches theaters on July 10.
For wrestling fans, Johnson may have traded the People’s Elbow for a musical note here, but he’s still helping lead a major production onto a big stage.
