WWE’s European Summer Tour got off to a huge start on Thursday night in Liverpool, England, and Cody Rhodes gave fans something big to talk about after the show. Liverpool was the first stop on WWE’s latest European tour, which also includes events in Cardiff and the upcoming Clash in Italy Premium Live Event on May 31. The Italy show is already historic because it will be WWE’s first-ever PLE in the country.
At the Liverpool show, Rhodes faced Gunther in a Tables Match just days before their Undisputed WWE Championship match. Rhodes picked up the win after putting Gunther through a table, giving himself some momentum heading into Sunday.
Cody Rhodes believes Liverpool is ready to host a bigger WWE event
After WWE’s May 28 live event in Liverpool, Rhodes spoke to the crowd and hinted that the city could host its own Clash-themed Premium Live Event in the future.
“You guys sound great. We should be doing Clash In Liverpool. Maybe next year,” Rhodes told the fans.
The crowd in Liverpool was loud all night, and it clearly left an impression on Rhodes. His comment quickly got the crowd excited, especially since WWE has been focusing heavily on international shows lately. Although Rhodes may have just been hyping up the crowd, the idea does not seem impossible anymore.
Right now, WWE has not officially announced any plans for a Liverpool PLE in 2027. However, the company has been expanding internationally more than ever over the last few years.
The Clash series has become one of WWE’s most successful international event brands. Clash at the Castle in Wales and Scotland drew huge crowds. WWE then expanded the concept further with Clash in Paris in 2025, continuing its push into major European markets.
