Stephanie McMahon has revealed that one of her daughters once appeared to be on a path toward the wrestling business. However, a difficult period for the family ultimately changed the direction of those plans.
Speaking on a recent episode of her What’s Your Story? podcast alongside Becky Lynch, McMahon discussed whether any of her children were interested in following the family’s footsteps into WWE.
While the answer wasn’t a flat-out no, she explained that circumstances shifted at a pivotal moment.
Stephanie McMahon opens up about Aurora’s WWE aspirations
According to McMahon, her oldest daughter Aurora had already begun taking early steps toward a potential future in wrestling. She revealed that Aurora had even spent time training alongside Natalya and Charlotte Flair.
“Well, Aurora used to want to (get into the wrestling business), and she even got in the ring with Nattie and Charlotte (Flair). She rolled around a little bit,” McMahon said.
However, Stephanie explained that events surrounding her father, Vince McMahon, and her own departure from WWE created an uncertain environment just as Aurora was approaching an important life decision.
“But then, everything kind of happened with my dad and me leaving and it was an awkward time. Like right in the time that she would’ve really been making her decision,” McMahon stated.
While Aurora’s wrestling ambitions have cooled for now, Stephanie made it clear the door hasn’t been completely shut. In a twist that would make any wrestling storyline take an unexpected turn, Aurora’s focus has shifted from the squared circle to the classroom.
“And not that she couldn’t. She still could, but her mind right now is on getting her Doctorate in PT,” McMahon added.
The comments provide a rare glimpse into how events outside the ring affected the McMahon family during a turbulent period.
In 2022, an internal WWE board investigation uncovered millions of dollars in undisclosed settlement payments tied to allegations of sexual misconduct involving Vince McMahon, leading to his resignation as CEO.
The situation escalated further in January 2024 when former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a federal lawsuit against McMahon, WWE, and former executive John Laurinaitis, alleging sexual assault, coercion, and sex trafficking. McMahon has denied the allegations. The controversy ultimately led to his complete departure from WWE’s parent company, TKO Group Holdings, creating significant upheaval for the McMahon family and the company during the period Stephanie referenced.
Although Aurora is currently pursuing a doctorate in physical therapy, Stephanie’s remarks suggest wrestling remains a possibility down the road.
