Kit Wilson Returns to WWE NXT for Unique Role

Kit Wilson made an unexpected return to WWE NXT on the June 9, 2026 episode of the brand, but it wasn’t for a match or a storyline confrontation.

Instead, the SmackDown star found himself playing a very different role as NXT rolled out one of its most unusual competitions to date.

The appearance was notable for more than just the segment itself. It marked Wilson’s first return to the WWE Performance Center for an NXT broadcast in 1,139 days, ending a gap of more than three years since his move to the main roster.

Kit Wilson serves as Judge for WWE NXT’s first-ever Mr. NXT pageant

NXT General Manager Robert Stone selected Wilson as one of three guest judges for the inaugural Mr. NXT Pageant, a comedic competition designed to settle the ongoing rivalry between Shiloh Hill and Tristan Angels.

The feud began after Hill spent weeks collecting signatures on a petition to have himself officially recognized as “Mr. NXT.” That didn’t sit well with Angels, a real-life Mr. England pageant finalist, who challenged Hill to prove himself in a formal pageant competition.

To determine a winner, the contest featured multiple rounds focused on attire, talent, and public speaking. Wilson joined reigning EVOLVE Champion Aaron Rourke and comedian Matt Mathews on the judging panel, creating a scorecard that was almost as competitive as the contestants themselves.

The first round, titled “Who Wore It Best?”, immediately split the judges. Mathews voted for Shiloh Hill, while both Wilson and Rourke sided with Tristan Angels, giving Angels the opening-round victory. In other words, Wilson’s vote carried plenty of weight and helped tip the scales early.

The appearance also came just days after Wilson’s latest SmackDown involvement, where he appeared via FaceTime during a backstage segment involving The Miz and Danhausen. This time, however, there were no airport mishaps, no customs issues, and no electrocutions — just a pageant and a judging scorecard.

While brief, Wilson’s NXT return added a little main roster star power to the event.
