An NYC daycare Director who stole millions from tuition payments for luxury travel and WWE tickets pleads guilty.
Murielle Misczak (43), who was the Director of Kinderhaus Brooklyn in Park Slope, was arrested on March 25, 2026, for embezzling $2.75 million in tuition payments. A federal indictment noted that she used $350,000 from the stolen money to buy tickets to WWE events. She was released on a $200,000 bond, secured by a $50,000 wire transfer by her mother. Authorities made her surrender her passport, wear an ankle bracelet, and adhere to a home curfew.
Now, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, Murielle Misczak has pleaded guilty “to wire fraud in connection with a scheme to defraud her former employer of more than $2.75 million.” The proceeding was held before United States District Judge Nicholas G. Garaufis on June 11. She faces a maximum sentence of 20 years imprisonment and restitution of $2,805,871.
Officials blasted her for stealing money intended for service to children
U.S. Attorney Joseph Nocella, Jr. and FBI Assistant Director in Charge James C. Barnacle, Jr. announced the guilty plea. The former noted that Misczak abused her access to the daycare’s bank accounts to steal millions and used it for her personal expenses, including buying WWE tickets.
“The defendant took advantage of her access to bank accounts for the Daycare to steal millions in tuition payments in order to line her own pockets and fund trips to World Wrestling Entertainment events among other personal expenses,” stated United States Attorney Nocella. “Our Office will continue to vigorously prosecute individuals like the defendant who abuse positions of trust and seek to enrich themselves at the expense of services for children.?
The FBI Assistant Director in Charge noted that she deprived the daycare of critical funding, which should’ve been used to support children.
“Murielle Misczak’s selfish greed deprived a local daycare of nearly three million dollars in critical funding intended for services to support the development and care of our communities’ children. The FBI continues to pull back the curtain on fraudsters seeking to steal from innocent New Yorkers, regardless of their cover up attempts,” he said.
As noted in court filings, Murielle Misczak started as a Program Coordinator for the daycare in 2013 and was promoted to Director in 2020. She stole more than $2.75 million from January 2022 to October 2025 by directing the tuition fees to be paid into accounts she controlled and later transferring them to her own accounts. She then hid her theft by deleting and altering information in the accounting systems.
