Matt Cardona’s struggles since returning to WWE have become difficult to ignore, and now one fellow WWE star believes the solution may lie in revisiting the past rather than reinventing the future.
During a recent appearance on Adam’s Apple, Danhausen was asked which WWE talent he believes is dealing with a curse.
His answer immediately turned attention toward Cardona, whose recent run on SmackDown has been defined more by losses than victories.
However, Danhausen’s proposed remedy was anything but conventional.
Danhausen thinks Zack Ryder could end Matt Cardona’s losing streak
Speaking on the show, Danhausen pointed directly at Cardona when discussing WWE’s most cursed superstar.
“Matt Cardona for sure. He’s being pummeled every week,” Danhausen said. “He needs to be cursed back into Zack Ryder. I think if he just put a headband on and some sunglasses and said, ‘Woo Woo Woo, You Know It,’ I think the curse would go away. But who knows?”
The suggestion comes amid a difficult stretch for Cardona. Since returning to SmackDown on January 2, he has amassed a 10-match losing streak on WWE’s main roster. Although he picked up a victory over Kit Wilson in his return match, momentum has been scarce.
Several of those defeats have come against notable opponents, including Sami Zayn and Ricky Saints. Despite fan frustration over the booking, Cardona has remained defiant, insisting his story is far from over.
Interestingly, the idea of a “curse” has already become part of the storyline. Cardona recently posted a video highlighting his recent setbacks and even reached out to Danhausen for help “uncursing” his career.
For longtime fans, the suggestion carries an extra layer of nostalgia. Before becoming Matt Cardona, he found success in WWE as Zack Ryder, complete with his trademark headband, sunglasses, and the famous catchphrase Danhausen referenced.
Whether WWE chooses to lean into the joke remains unclear. For now, Cardona continues searching for a way to reverse his fortunes, while Danhausen believes the answer might be as simple as saying, “Woo Woo Woo, You Know It.”
