WWE Cancels Upcoming SmackDown Taping in Ohio

WWE has reportedly made a significant change to its fall touring schedule. An upcoming episode of SmackDown is no longer set to take place at its previously announced location.

The affected event was scheduled for September 4 at the Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

While the company has yet to publicly address the situation, fans who purchased tickets have already been notified that the show won’t move forward as planned.

WWE SmackDown Cincinnati event pulled from schedule

According to confirmation from the Heritage Bank Center, the September 4 edition of Friday Night SmackDown has been canceled. No reason was provided for the decision, and there is currently no information regarding a replacement venue or a rescheduled date.

The development was first highlighted after Ticketmaster displayed a notice stating that “the event organizer has had to cancel your event.” Fans who purchased tickets are expected to receive automatic refunds.

The canceled show had originally been announced in early May as part of WWE’s summer and fall touring plans. Tickets went on sale shortly afterward, making the sudden change a surprise for many fans in the Cincinnati area.

For now, WWE has not announced where the September 4 episode of SmackDown will take place. As a result, the blue brand’s road to Labor Day weekend has hit an unexpected detour.

The timing is noteworthy because the canceled episode was scheduled just two days before the first-ever Sunday Night’s Main Event event on September 6 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. WWE recently adjusted that holiday weekend schedule by moving Money in the Bank from its original slot and replacing it with the new special event.

At this stage, there is no indication whether the cancellation is related to scheduling, logistics, or another factor. Reports simply state that the Cincinnati date has been removed from the calendar.

Until WWE provides further clarification, fans have to wait and see where the September 4 edition of SmackDown ultimately lands. As the card is often subject to change, this time the venue appears to be as well.
