Shotzi Blackheart explains her decision to sign with MLW.
After departing from WWE in 2025, Shotzi Blackheart envisioned herself as a true free agent, not bound by any contracts. Once she discovered the wonders of Major League Wrestling, however, inking a deal with them only felt right.
“I have been a fan of MLW for a really long time,” Shotzi told WrestleZone’s Ella Jay in a recent interview. “Before getting signed to WWE, that was a place that I really wanted to be at. They were actually one of the first companies, if not the first one, to message me about coming in after my contract ended. I was just having such a good time because they were booking me for every show after that. And when they asked me to sign, I was just like, you know what? I’m having so much fun here. I promised myself that I wasn’t going to sign anywhere, but it was just so easy to sign with them just because I was having such a good time. I just felt like they understood me so well. So I was just like, yeah, let’s do it. Let’s make this official.”
According to Shotzi, her relationship with MLW is similar to dating. While she didn’t intentionally set out for a relationship, she still fell in love, in this case with MLW, where she now resides as the MLW Women’s World Champion.
Shotzi Wants To See More Women In MLW
Over the last year, MLW has gradually expanded its women’s division, with Shotzi, Lady Frost, Priscilla Kelly, Scarlett Bordeaux, and Zamaya all coming aboard as new members. Given MLW’s partnerships with STARDOM and CMLL, Shotzi wants to see even more women make their way into the MLW zone.
“The options are endless, especially with our partnership with Stardom and CMLL,” she said. I wrestled a luchadora, Skadi, at CMLL, and she just blew my mind. The way she moves at her size, everyone go watch her. I was like please come to MLW, please come to America, because you are amazing. I think she’s so cool. So I hope that we bring her in, and obviously, all the STARDOM girls. They all can hang. The possibilities are endless really.”
Earlier this month, STARDOM stars Rina and Saya Kamitani marked their MLW debuts at a trio of television tapings in New York City and Philadelphia. Their matches are expected to air in the coming months.
