Sami Zayn‘s reign as Undisputed WWE Champion may have only just begun, but a familiar face has already stepped forward with championship ambitions.
Following Night of Champions, one of RAW’s biggest stars made it clear that he’s ready to chase the title, setting up what could become one of WWE’s most personal rivalries this summer.
The challenge comes after a major shake-up in the title picture, leaving the new champion without an obvious next opponent. Now, one former ally is ready to change that.
Jey Uso targets Sami Zayn after WWE Championship victory
At Night of Champions, Sami Zayn captured his first-ever top WWE world championship by pinning Cody Rhodes in a chaotic Triple Threat Match that also featured Gunther. While many expected 2026 King of the Ring winner Oba Femi to challenge Zayn next, those plans shifted after Femi chose to settle his rivalry with Brock Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell at SummerSlam instead.
That decision opened the door for a new challenger, and Jey Uso wasted no time stepping through it.
During RAW, Jey revealed that he would be heading to SmackDown with a clear goal in mind.
“Sami Zayn champ now. Guess what, uce? He ain’t got no challenger now. I’m bringing gold back to The Bloodline. Yeet.”
The declaration came after Jey fell short against Oba Femi in the King of the Ring finals. Rather than dwell on that setback, he quickly shifted his attention to the biggest prize in WWE.
The potential matchup carries plenty of history. Jey was once the loudest voice against Sami Zayn becoming an Honorary Uce in The Bloodline. However, Zayn eventually earned Jey’s trust, and their bond became one of WWE’s defining stories. When Zayn turned on Roman Reigns at the 2023 Royal Rumble, Jey even walked away from his own family instead of joining the attack.
Now, their paths appear set to cross once again, but this time with the Undisputed WWE Championship on the line (although nothing is official yet). Friendship may still be there, but when gold enters the picture, every alliance gets put to the test.
