TNA Creative Member’s Status Revealed Amid Recent Workforce Cuts — Report

TNA recently made several backstage changes ahead of Slammiversary. The biggest change saw Tommy Dreamer leave the company where he confirmed he and the company mutually agreed to go their separate ways. A new report has now clarified the status of longtime creative team member Delirious.

While the departure was publicly described as a mutual decision, reports later claimed TNA made the decision to part ways with him as it looked for a fresher creative direction. Following his exit, several independent wrestlers and referees made backstage misconduct allegations against him. While Dreamer’s departure drew major attention, Delirious reportedly remained safe.

Delirious was reportedly never in danger of leaving TNA

According to Fightful Select, Hunter Johnston, better known as Delirious, was never in danger of losing his creative role. The report stated that he was not considered part of the creative problems that led to recent changes.

Dreamer was released by TNA on June 17. Although both sides publicly described the split as mutual, the report stated that TNA made the decision to let him go. It also noted that while Dreamer had supporters backstage, many wrestlers had grown frustrated with creative direction for some time.

TNA then moved into its first major show without Dreamer at Slammiversary. The event featured two championship changes. Xia Brookside defeated Lei Ying Lee to capture the TNA Knockouts World Championship.

The main event also crowned a new world champion where Nic Nemeth defeated Mike Santana to win the TNA World Championship. The title changes came just days after the major backstage shakeup within the company.
