Former WWE NIL athlete and ex-Nebraska wrestler AJ Ferrari has been arrested and arraigned in Nebraska after facing multiple felony charges stemming from an alleged domestic incident.
The case has now moved into the court system. A judge set the bond and imposed conditions ahead of Ferrari’s next appearance.
The 24-year-old was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant before appearing in Lancaster County Court. Prosecutors and defense attorneys presented opposing arguments over his bond.
AJ Ferrari faces multiple felony charges following Nebraska arrest
According to court proceedings (Via WOWT), Ferrari has been charged with third-degree assault by strangulation or suffocation of a pregnant woman, third-degree domestic violence assault, and first-degree false imprisonment.
Prosecutors requested that his bond be set at $250,000, citing the seriousness of the allegations. Ferrari’s attorney argued for a lower amount, stating that his client had returned to Nebraska to surrender to authorities. The defense also argued that Ferrari is a public figure who was unlikely to flee and noted that he lives in Texas while the alleged victim resides in California.
The judge ultimately set Ferrari’s bond at 10% of $200,000. Moreover, they ordered that he have no contact with the alleged victim. He is scheduled to return to court on Aug. 13 at 10 a.m.
Authorities arrested Ferrari at a Douglas County residence after investigators acted on tips regarding his whereabouts. Court records also indicate that the alleged victim has filed for a protection order, with proceedings scheduled to give Ferrari an opportunity to respond.
According to court affidavits, prosecutors allege that an argument escalated into a physical altercation in Lincoln, Nebraska. The filings claim Ferrari dragged the alleged victim, restrained her, prevented her from leaving, and strangled her. The affidavits further state that the alleged victim later received medical treatment for injuries.
The arrest marks Ferrari’s latest legal issue. In late June, he was cited in Nebraska on suspicion of flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, and obstructing police. Earlier this year, he was also booked in Lancaster County on an outstanding warrant, though those charges were later dismissed. Ferrari parted ways with the Nebraska wrestling program in April, and his current case remains pending as it proceeds through the legal system.
