AEW Star Confirms Her Contract Is Nearly Up

Queen Aminata has shared an honest update about her future with the company, revealing that her current AEW contract is getting close to its end. She also spoke openly about the ups and downs she has experienced over the past year.

Since joining AEW, Aminata has earned praise for her hard-hitting wrestling style. But after dealing with a serious neck injury and making her return earlier this year, she says she is now entering an important stage in her career as her contract nears its end.

Queen Aminata shares update on her AEW contract

In a recent YouTube vlog, Aminata revealed that she signed with AEW almost three years ago. She said her contract would have originally ended around February 2027, but the time she missed because of injury will be added to the deal.

“I signed with AEW three years ago, almost three years. I’m almost at the end of my contract, which is next February, plus injury time. I don’t know how long that’s going to be,” Aminata said.

The 33-year-old was out of action from late 2025 until April 2026 after suffering a neck injury. When she returned, she went after the AEW TBS Championship but lost to Willow Nightingale. After the title became up for grabs, Aminata competed in the Survival of the Fittest match on the July 1 episode of AEW Dynamite, where Hikaru Shida won.

Aminata also spoke honestly about what it’s really like being signed to a major wrestling company. She said joining AEW was always one of her biggest dreams, but the experience has been different from what she imagined.

One thing she misses is the freedom she had on the independent wrestling scene. She explained that many independent wrestlers think signing with a big promotion means they’ll keep having those same exciting matches on a bigger stage, but that’s not always how it works.

Aminata also became emotional while talking about her late father.

She said one of her biggest goals was to earn a contract with a major wrestling company so she could proudly tell him she had made it. Sadly, he passed away before she achieved that dream.

“For the past two and a half years, I have to say wrestling has been my escape because when I lost my dad, I lost a lot of feelings. I lost a lot of motivation. And the goal and the dream was to get signed and tell, ‘You know what, Dad? I made it. I’m a professional wrestler. I’m signed and I’m on TV.’ But by the time I got signed officially, he was gone,” Aminata said.

Aminata also spoke about what it means to be the only African woman currently wrestling on American television.

“Being the one and only African woman wrestler on TV in America is a huge accomplishment. But to me, at this point, we’re halfway there. So there is more to come. I just have to find a way to light that fire back in my heart. So, who knows what God has planned for me after my contract expires. Who knows?” Aminata added.
