Big Cass’ WWE Return Was in the Works Months Before He Officially Signed — Report

Big Cass is officially heading back to WWE, but a new report suggests his return wasn’t put together overnight.

While the company only finalized his contract this month, plans for his comeback had reportedly been taking shape well before the ink dried.

The latest update comes just days after a mysterious vignette aired on Monday Night Raw, leaving fans wondering who was behind the tease.

WWE reportedly planned Big Cass return as early as May

According to Fightful Select, the Raw vignette was indeed for Big Cass. According to the report, he officially signed with WWE earlier this month after his AEW contract expired. However, the report notes that WWE had a “loose plan” in place to bring him back as far back as May.

Before becoming a free agent, Cass — who wrestled in AEW as Big Bill — reportedly informed the company that he would not be renewing his deal, giving AEW notice before his contract expired near the beginning of the month.

The vignette that aired on Raw also pointed to August 3rd, the first episode of Raw following SummerSlam, as the expected date for his return. While the countdown is on, WWE appears to have been playing the long game rather than making an out-of-nowhere tag.

As per the same reports, Enzo Amore has also been linked to a WWE return. However, it remains unclear whether the longtime tag team partners will reunite on the same night or return separately.

Cass originally signed with WWE in 2011 and remained with the company until his release in June 2018. After leaving WWE, he competed in several promotions, including TNA Wrestling, before establishing himself in AEW as Big Bill. During that run, he captured the AEW World Tag Team Championship alongside Ricky Saints. Moreover, he shared television time with stars including Chris Jericho and MJF.

Although WWE has yet to officially announce Cass’ return, the latest report paints a clearer picture of the timeline behind his comeback. With August 3rd now in focus, fans may not have to wait much longer to see the next chapter of his WWE career begin.
