AEW Star Seemingly Takes Shot at Sheamus With Brogue Kick Amid Signing Speculation

Brian Cage may have added to the rumors about Sheamus possibly joining AEW after taking a shot on his Brogue Kick on social media following AEW Collision.

It can be considered that Cage was not seriously taking a shot at Sheamus. However, the post is noteworthy because it came while rumors about Sheamus leaving WWE and possibly joining AEW continue to grow.

Brian Cage jokes about Sheamus’ Brogue Kick after AEW Collision

On the July 18 episode of AEW Collision, Brian Cage, Jake Doyle, and Hechicero represented the Don Callis Family in a six-man tag match against Gino Medina, Tome Filip, and Nic Nolan.

The Don Callis Family controlled the match from the start. Doyle handled the early offense before Hechicero came with his technical wrestling and submission holds.

The moment came when Cage nailed Tome Filip with a powerful running big boot that dropped him immediately on the mat. He followed it with a twisting neckbreaker before ending the match by flipping Filip into a pin for the win.

The Don Callis Family picked up a comfortable victory.

And now, Cage has posted the clip of his big boot on social media. The video showed the kick, followed by shots of him shouting and celebrating. He added the caption:

“That’s the only brogue kick you’re going to see around here!”

The caption was an obvious reference to Sheamus’ famous finishing move. Cage’s post comes while Sheamus continues to be linked with AEW.

Earlier this month, the Celtic Warrior appeared to say goodbye to WWE by changing his social media accounts back to his real name and posting a farewell message to fans. WWE also moved his profile to the company’s Alumni section, leading many to believe he has finished with the company.

Even so, reports say Sheamus cannot sign with another promotion until October 1, 2026, because of the standard 90-day non-compete period or injury-related contract time.

There have also been different opinions inside AEW about bringing him in.

Some people reportedly feel Sheamus would be a great addition because of his experience and star power. Others believe signing another established veteran could take TV time away from younger talent already on the roster.

Many fans have also talked about the possibility of The Bar reuniting if Sheamus joins AEW, where Claudio Castagnoli currently wrestles.
