Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins took their rivalry to another level on the July 27 episode of WWE RAW. Their face-to-face turned deeply personal and ended in a brawl after Rollins brought Reigns’ family into the argument.
The segment served as the last confrontation before their SummerSlam match and added even more emotion to one of WWE’s long-running rivalries.
Seth Rollins got under Roman Reigns’ skin by bringing up his family
Roman Reigns came to the ring ready to greet the crowd with his famous “Acknowledge Me” catchphrase. Before he could say much, Seth Rollins interrupted and sarcastically told the fans to acknowledge him instead.
Reigns didn’t hold back, calling Rollins “an a**hole.”
Rollins laughed it off and said he has always been comfortable being the bad guy. He claimed that’s how he had survived and succeeded in WWE. He also said that unlike Reigns, who was chosen to be the company’s top star, he had to earn everything.
Rollins gave Reigns credit for everything he has achieved. He called him a huge draw, the Tribal Chief, and the Head of the Table. But he insisted there was one thing Reigns could never beat him at. That’s professional wrestling.
Rollins then looked back at their long history together. He said he had beaten Reigns many times and believes he still has the upper hand, both physically and mentally. The former WWE Champion even pointed to WWE’s recent video packages about their rivalry as proof.
He questioned what would change at SummerSlam. Rollins wondered if Roman would lose his cool again or even need help from The Bloodline if things got tough.
The OTC finally responded by calling himself WWE’s biggest star and true champion. He said that beating Rollins at SummerSlam wasn’t just important, it was something he must do. Reigns said he wanted his family to watch him finally defeat Rollins.
“I need to beat you. I need my family to see me beat you. Everyone. everybody needs me to beat you. It’s not just this company, the whole industry needs me to beat you,” said Reigns.
That gave the Visionary the opening he wanted.
Rollins reminded Reigns about WrestleMania 31, when he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract and stole the WWE Championship. He said Reigns’ family watched him leave that night heartbroken.
Then Rollins took things even further.
He said he hoped Reigns’ family would be at SummerSlam so they could watch him lose again. He claimed Reigns’ children would see that “their daddy is a fraud,” “their daddy is a loser,” and “their daddy will forever and always be Seth Rollins’ b*tch.”
That was enough to make Reigns snap.
The OTC immediately attacked Rollins with a series of punches. He followed up with a Superman Punch and then crushed him with a Spear. Reigns then went on to grab a steel chair from the ringside.
But Seth Rollins was prepared. As the OTC stepped back into the ring with the chair, Rollins suddenly recovered and hit him with a Curb Stomp, driving Reigns face-first onto the chair.
Standing over his rival, Rollins yelled that this is how their matches always end.
