Raquel Rodriguez reached a long-awaited career milestone on the July 27 episode of Monday Night RAW, capturing championship gold in singles competition for the first time on WWE’s main roster.
The title change came just days before SummerSlam, although the road to victory was anything but straightforward.
With RAW returning to the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, the Women’s Intercontinental Championship took center stage as Sol Ruca looked to extend her reign against one of WWE’s most dominant powerhouses.

The champion came out firing, using her speed to keep Rodriguez off balance with a series of high-impact attacks, including a standing moonsault, hurricanrana, and a top-rope DDT. Rodriguez answered with her trademark power offense, weathering every comeback despite suffering what Michael Cole suggested could be a broken nose after taking a knee to the face.
As the match entered its closing stages, outside interference shifted the momentum.
Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez attempted to help Rodriguez, prompting Women’s World Champion IYO SKY to race to the ringside. Morgan intercepted SKY, and the two brawled around the ringside area while Rodriguez and Sol Ruca continued the match inside the ring.
Ruca appeared poised to hit the Sol Snatcher, but Perez shoved the champion into the ring post before she could connect. Rodriguez capitalized on the opening moments later, delivering the Tejana Bomb to score the pinfall and become the new Women’s Intercontinental Champion.
The victory marks Rodriguez’s first singles championship since joining WWE’s main roster in April 2022. Although she previously enjoyed considerable success as a six-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Aliyah, Liv Morgan, and Roxanne Perez, singles gold had remained out of reach until now. Her only previous singles title in WWE came during her reign as NXT Women’s Champion.
Judgment Day celebrated the victory after the match, continuing the faction’s recent run of success.
