Diamond Dallas Page and Jake Roberts have a rich relationship and fans will get to hear more of that on DDP SnakePit.
The debut episode of their DDP SnakePit podcast debuted on Tuesday, and Diamond Dallas Page spoke exclusively with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard ahead of the release about what makes this new venture so unique for the two legends and best friends.
“A lot of people know The Resurrection of Jake The Snake and they know what I’ve done for Jake, but they really don’t know what Jake did for me,” DDP said before continuing on about the one-of-a-kind dynamic that adding Conrad Thompson in the mix presents for viewers and listeners of the show.
“We’re gonna talk and Jake he has no idea what I’m going to say and I have no idea what he’s going to say. What’s beautiful about having Conrad [Thompson] in this is this show is more like you get to be a fly on the wall of me and Jake just talking to Conrad,” DDP said. “He’s the one who asks the questions and then we lead it. Those first two episodes we talk about, why, how cause it’s such a crazy f-ckin’ story. My whole career is a crazy f-ckin’ story.”
Jake Roberts is known as the master of the DDT, and DDP is widely credited for reinventing the diving cutter move when he added the Diamond Cutter to his his repertoire. Page was asked about what new move he sees as the next standout finisher that could leave a legacy like those moves.
“To me at this point, it’s so hard to create something new because these kids, they thought of everything right? They’ve come up with Diamond Cutters I’ve never even dreamed of. I created 50 different ways, Randy Orton created another 50. All these guys at these independent shows, all these young workers — the guys up in AEW and WWE they’ve all got some way into it. There’s probably 300 ways into that move now.”

Diamond Dallas Page then recalled the time that Roberts, who he’d lost touch with in the months prior, called him out of nowhere in 1997 to comment on the move Dallas made famous.
“I picked up the phone and all I heard was ‘Congratulations.’ I said, ‘Jake? Is that you?’ ‘Yeah.’ I said, ‘Congratulations? For what?’ ‘For reinventing the DDT.’ When Yoda tells you that you’ve re-created the best move up until I created the Diamond Cutter, [that’s a compliment]. It wasn’t the move, it was the way we got into it,” DDP noted, “because Johnny Ace was the first one to grab a guy around the neck and throw the peace sign up and kick his feet out. That’s just another move.
“Steven Regal taught me the cravat and when I grabbed you by that move and put that headlock on you, unless you’re Brock Lesnar, you ain’t getting out of it. Like I got you, I got you and it’s outta nowhere. The original ‘outta nowhere’ is the DDT. Jake didn’t come up with that many ways into it,” DDP explained, “but it was enough cause nobody did it like that.” He probably had five different ways into it, but he also had five different ways out of it.”
