Trinity Is Confident Ahead Of IMPACT PPV Debut: The Glow Is Here To Stay

Trinity is excited to show IMPACT Wrestling fans exactly what she brings to the table.

WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard spoke with Trinity (fka Naomi) ahead of her match with Gisele Shaw at IMPACT Wrestling’s Under Siege event. Trinity joined IMPACT in April after being away from the wrestling business for nearly a year. Trinity was asked how she was feeling now that her first match is out of the way. She says she’s still got butterflies, but she’s also got plenty of confidence now that she’s back.

“I don’t think the nerves ever go away, but I think that’s a good thing. I think the nerves are there because it matters. You care and you want to do your best. My first pay-per-view at Under Siege, I think now that I got my first one out of the way and some tapings, I feel very confident. I feel like I got my mojo back,” Trinity said. “I’m really excited to perform on my first pay-per-view with IMPACT, my first pay-per-view in a very long time, and I think it’s gonna be great. I think Gisele is going to be an excellent opponent for me. I think the match-up is going to be very competitive, and I just gotta keep my eye on Jai [Vidal] and make sure he don’t do anything sneaky.”

The match with Gisele Shaw presents an interesting dynamic since the two share similar move sets, but that’s the type of competition she needs.

“I’ve been studying Miss Gisele, and I see we have a very similar move set, so she better bring it because I feel like it’s going to be a lot of back and forth. It’s going to be very entertaining. I do splits, she does splits. I do corkscrews, she does corkscrews. I do flips, she does flips. I feel like it’s going to be very competitive,” she explained, “and that’s what I want, that’s what I need. I think this is going to be a very hard-hitting, tit-for-tat match, which I’m looking forward to.”

Prior to her IMPACT debut against KiLynn King, Trinity had not wrestled since she teamed with Sasha Banks (Mercedes Moné) against Natalya and Shayna Baszler in May 2022. Trinity said she was worried about getting back in front of a crowd, but she got some reassurance from Samuray Del Sol (fka Kalisto in WWE).

“I had been training with Manny, also known as Kalisto. He just kept telling me like, I was really worried. ‘This doesn’t feel right.’ He was like, ‘Don’t worry about it. It’s muscle memory. As soon as you get in there, it’s all gonna come right back to you.’ He just kept telling me that, and I just trusted that because weeks prior in training, it did not feel good taking those bumps again and all the conditioning. There’s nothing that prepares you for the in-ring conditioning that you need to have for wrestling other than wrestling and having matches. You can workout, you can do cardio, you can lift weights,” Trinity explained. “Nothing gets you ready for the ring other than just wrestling. It’s just a completely different type of cardio and conditioning that you have to have.

“And being out of the ring for over a year, I couldn’t just get that back in a day or two. So I was very worried about that and working a new opponent, someone who you don’t know what the chemistry is going to be or you don’t know what’s going to happen. You’ve never physically touched and felt each other, timing, and all those things that matter. And also just being in a different ring,” she noted, “all those things had me shook. I only performed inside of a WWE ring, so being in a different ring was just so much to experience all at once, but I got in there and it was like, ‘Boom, like okay, I’m good, I got this. We’re rocking, we’re rolling.’”

In addition to getting a chance to perform in front of a new fanbase, Trinity also wants to continue building her ‘glow’ persona. Trinity believes there can be many layers to it, adding that she’s only scratched the surface of where she could take it.

“That’s what I am looking forward to. I feel that the glow is me, the glow is here to stay. That is what makes me unique, that is my thing. That is something I’ve put my heart, mind, body, and soul into. However, I do want to see the different layers to it,” Trinity said. “I wanna see where I can go with this thing, this character, this person, this entrance, and this aura. I haven’t tapped into it yet, really just touched the surface of it.

“We don’t know what the glow looks like when she’s pissed, what she looks like on a bad day,” she added. “We don’t know what it’s like to fear the glow, so maybe on this IMPACT journey, we can get there, who knows? I know that there’s more to do with it, and we shall see what happens.”
