Kristin Blaze details her path to the wrestling ring.
Throughout her college years, Kristin Blaze wooed sports fans with her pole vaulting at Florida International University, so much so that she earned a bronze medal at the 2023 Conference USA Indoor Championships. The same year, she received an invitation to explore a new athletic path, courtesy of an Instagram direct message. While speaking with WrestleZone’s Ella Jay, Blaze (real name Kristin Lubeskie) revealed the sender of that message as WWE Recruit.
“It’s crazy how an Instagram DM can quite literally change your life and your life direction,” she said. “So I was going through my Instagram requests and I saw WWE Recruit. I was like, ‘No way. This is a scam,’ and I went about my day. I didn’t open it. I went about my day.
“I had like a feeling like, you know what, you just go back, look at it, see what’s up. So, I’m looking at it. Still, like in the back of my mind saying like, ‘Oh, this is a scam,’ and it most definitely was not a scam, I can tell you that. It was like, ‘Hey, Kristin, I’m so-and-so from WWE Recruit. I’m a recruiter. I want to fly you out for this tryout.’ That’s how the ball really started.”
Blaze’s In-Ring Career Kicks Off
After accepting the invite from WWE, Blaze flew out to Detroit, Michigan, the site of WWE SummerSlam, for an official tryout. Unfortunately, no contract offer came out of it. It did, however, inspire Blaze to formally enroll herself in the Coastal Championship Wrestling training school, run by WWE alum Gangrel.
“It didn’t work out, but I truly believe everything happens for a reason,” Blaze said. “A few months went by after the Performance Center training camp call back and my recruiter and I got back in touch. It was like probably four or five months after that.
“My recruiter was like, ‘Kristin, if you really want to pursue this, find a school near you and go from there. We’ll go from there.’ So I was like, ‘Alright, if it’s in the stars for me, there’ll be a school right down the road.’ That’s how I found CCW. I’m trained by Gangrel and I truly am so grateful to have him as my coach.”
