Best IMPACT Wrestling TV Matches Of 2020

In 2020, IMPACT Wrestling, like every other wrestling promotion, witnessed an unprecedented event due to the coronavirus. Despite all the major setbacks brought about by COVID-19, the promotion continued to deliver quality wrestling on weekly television and PPV events.

IMPACT TV matches, in particular, emerged as one of the promotion’s major strengths during the pandemic. Stars like Josh Alexander and Deonna Purrazzo, in particular, brought some great action and storytelling to the squared circle.

With that being said, let’s take a look at some of the best IMPACT Wrestling TV matches of 2020:

Ace Austin vs. Eddie Edwards (Street Fight – IMPACT Wrestling #828)

Ace Austin and Eddie Edwards went to war in 2019. The pair ran it back the following year. The Street Fight stipulation meant everything was legal. Both men wanted to inflict great punishment on each other and they did.

Edwards used his veteran instincts to inflict as much punishment on Austin as possible. Austin, on the other hand, displayed great creativity in the use of his surroundings to his advantage. This was a solid main event that lasted nearly 17 minutes.

Rich Swann & Trey Miguel vs. The Rascalz (November 17)

The Rascalz were part of some great matches in the IMPACT Zone in 2020. The duo of Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz had multiple match of the year contenders against The North and The Motor City Machine Guns.

Another great match involving the pair came against Rich Swann and Trey Miguel at IMPACT Wrestling #850. Both teams showed their tremendous athleticism. Miguel, in particular, was the star of the match.

This match turned out to be Dez and Wenz’s sendoff as they left IMPACT Wrestling for WWE NXT.

Chris Bey vs. Rohit Raju vs. TJP (Three-way for IMPACT X-Division Championship – Emergence Nigh1)

The X-Division has always been one of IMPACT Wrestling’s strongest offerings. In 2020, the division witnessed another solid encounter in Chris Bey versus Rohit Raju versus TJP at the Emergence live-streaming event.

Chris Bey entered the match as the defending X-Division Champion. The Bullet Club star found overwhelming opposition in Rohit Raju and TJP. All three men looked incredibly impressive in this Emergence opener.

Rohit Raju took advantage of an opening towards the closing moments of the match to win the title from Chris Bey.

The North vs. Motor City Machine Guns (IMPACT World Tag Team Championship Match – July 21)

The North had an incredible 2020 in IMPACT Wrestling. Ethan Page and Josh Alexander captured the promotion’s tag team titles and ran roughshod over the entire tag team division. The pair had numerous classics against The Rascalz and The Motor City Machine Guns.

The North and MCMG ran it back for the IMPACT World Tag Team Championship at the July 19 IMPACT TV tapings in Nashville, Tennessee. All four participants put on an incredible main event. Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley worked like a well-oiled machine.

Alexander and Page, on the other hand, used their technical prowess and aggression to try to keep the challenger at arm’s length. However, the offense wasn’t enough as MCMG defeated The North to capture the IMPACT World Tag Team Championship.

El Hijo del Vikingo vs. TJP (IMPACT Wrestling #811)

El Hijo del Vikingo was making waves in the IMPACT Zone three years before his incredible showdown with Kenny Omega in AEW. The 2019 Impact World Cup of Wrestling co-winner had an exceptional match with TJP at a weekly IMPACT taping in Mexico City at the height o the pandemic.

The thrilling match lasted for nearly 14 minutes and saw the two men produce some beautiful sequences. TJP showed why he was one of IMPACT Wrestling’s most reliable stars in 2020 with this great match against Vikingo.

The fluidity was there from the get-go. Each spot and sequence was crisp and served it’s purpose. The lucha libre star held his own against TJP’s technical game in one of the best IMPACT Wrestling TV matches of 2020.
