After an unsuccessful rematch against Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Championship, Bryan immediately shifted his focus to the WWE Championship and became the #1 contender. He would face Punk in a dream match at Over The Limit 2012, where the two delivered with an outstanding match.
Unfortunately, the match would end in controversy as the referee didn’t see CM Punk tapping to Bryan’s Yes! Lock, instead counting three when Punk was on his back.
