WWE Women’s Championship Match: Michelle McCool (c) vs Mickie James: This match had a great story going into it. I know this story line has generated a lot of online controversy in that some people feel it’s good entertainment while others feel WWE has crossed the line by making personal cracks at James’ weight, especially when some think it’s a form of punishment for pursuing a music career. But in the end, I think what matters is that it makes people hate McCool more, and last night I really felt like I wanted to see her get beat. And that’s the key to making an angle work in my opinion: the audience has to want to see the heel lose more than they want to see the face win. Which makes it all the better that Mickie did not win last night. This feud should continue. If Mickie were to have won last night, she’d have nowhere to go. There aren’t many contenders on Smackdown for the Women’s Title, with the exception of Beth Phoenix, but it’s too soon to see James/Phoenix again. McCool needs to stay on top for awhile, and really collect as much heat as she can before Mickie sticks it to her. 5.5 Stars.
